Body Safety Cards | Ages 1–4

$32.95

Body safety conversations need to start earlier than most parents think.

Created by Kristi McVee, former WA Police detective and specialist child abuse investigator, these conversation cards give parents of toddlers and preschoolers a calm, confident way to start one of the most important conversations of their child's life.

They're not flashcards. They're conversation openers designed to be used again and again as your child grows.

What's Included

  • A set of beautifully illustrated cards designed specifically for children aged 1–4
  • Simple, age-appropriate language toddlers and preschoolers can understand and remember
  • Guidance for parents on how to use each card with confidence

Why it works

Children who learn body safety language early are better equipped to recognise unsafe situations, and to speak up if something happens. These cards make that first conversation feel natural, not scary.

See what's in the box

Watch Conversations with Kids founder, Kristi McVee show you what's inside the 1-4yo card deck, whilst she explains how to use the body safety cards.

Every age specific deck includes a parent guidebook explaining each body safety lesson and why it matters, plus heavy duty, plastic coated conversation cards designed to be used again and again. No experience needed, no wrong answers, just simple questions that open the door to keep our kids safer.

Use again and again

Return to the cards as your child grows and each conversation develops.

Most parents want to have this conversation. They just don't know how to start it without scaring their child, saying the wrong thing, or making it feel like a big deal. So they wait. And the conversation never happens. These cards change that!

Why physical cards, not an app?

Screens are everywhere yet when we have these important conversations, we want to be present and connecting with our child, not looking at a screen.

Hard conversations, like body safety don't belong on another device.

Physical cards:

  • Invite connection without distraction
  • Sit on the kitchen bench or coffee table
  • Encourage repeat conversations over time
  • Are easier for parents to remember and kids to engage with

Madi

I absolutely love Kristi McVee’s Conversations with Kids 1–4 cards and genuinely believe they are a resource every family and early childhood setting should have.

As both a mum and an Early Childhood Teacher, one of the things I value most about these cards is how easy they make it to have really important conversations with young children in a way that feels natural, age-appropriate and not scary. Rather than sitting children down for one big “body safety talk”, the cards create opportunities for these conversations to become part of everyday life.

They cover so much more than simply teaching children about body safety. They encourage conversations around feelings, consent, boundaries, trusted adults, speaking up, recognising when something doesn’t feel right and knowing that they can always come to a safe adult.

I particularly love that they give adults the language and prompts to start conversations that we sometimes know are important but aren't quite sure how to approach. At the same time, they give children space to think, respond and lead the conversation. You can learn so much just by listening to their answers.

For me, these cards aren't about frightening children or making them responsible for keeping themselves safe. They're about giving children knowledge, language and confidence, while reminding us as adults that keeping children safe is ultimately our responsibility.

They are simple, practical and incredibly valuable. I couldn't recommend them highly enough to parents, carers, educators and anyone who has young children in their lives.

Hi Madi, thank you so much for your heartfelt review! We're thrilled to hear how much these cards are helping you and your children have meaningful, natural conversations about important topics. Your support and insights mean the world to us. Thanks again for sharing your experience!

These cards made it easy for me to START conversations with my 4year old girl and 2 year old boy on naming their bodyparts, talk about public vs private and how to EMPOWER them to say no and be firm.

I think that what I as an adult, (as a mom) I appreciate the most, is the opportunity to build the line of communication to where my children feel SAFE talking to me.

These are a great way to start a conversation with my small children, about body safety and awareness. My kids enjoy the cards and talking through the age appropriate content. I feel they have made my children more confident and safe, especially when not with me.

I am the Approved Provider of a Family Day Care service. We purchased these cards for our entire educator network. The response has been overwhelmingly positive. Our educators have confidently had conversations with the children in their care. With everything that has happened in this profession over the last two years, this is EXACTLY what the Government missed......teaching the children the language and concepts to talk about what is happening. This is the single biggest preventative in stopping child abuse.
Give your children the tools they need to stop anything in it's track, get these cards.......and USE them!!

Hi Victoria, thank you so much for sharing your experience! We're thrilled to hear how these cards are making a difference in your educator network and supporting children's safety. Your commitment to their well-being is inspiring. Thanks for being such an inspiring advocate!
